Saturday Morning At The Double JJ

Saturday morning began with us waking up feeling alot more rested and ready to begin our second day at The Back Forty.Even though I still woke up early without the need of the rooster or a wake up call, the hands of the clock were showing alittle later then yesterday morning. It wasn't hard to get up,put the coffee pot on and prepare to leave for breakfast. What a scrumptious breakfast we devoured each morning. My small fruit bowl containing blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and cool whip was very refreshing along with the scrambled eggs, toast and muffin.Chuck had alittle of everything for his breakfast.

Mr.Brauma Bull is always watching The Back Forty come alive with activity each morning. These two bulls and steer are just a few of the barn animals needing their breakfast. Its alittle too straw tasteing to me though.

This morning we walked over to their dog yard where they keep their Siberian and Alaskan Huskies. They have enough dogs to pull two sled teams during the winter time.During the summer their dogs are enjoying a leisurely time off while being pampered and cared for. They keep them well fed, manicured with showers and well shaded when the sun is beating down on them.During the afternoon they put up umbrellas for each of them to get shaded by along with the help of the trees. From 9:00 to 11:00 am in the morning you can go over and take a dog of your choice out for a walk for alittle while. They put two leases on them for each of you to hold onto because of their mighty strength in pulling you for your walk.I wonder who it is getting the walk, the dog or the human.I noticed that a few of them will have a colored bandana around their neck and inquired about them. While you stay there, you can actually pay to have one of the dogs to be your own special dog. Some people actually bring small bags of dog bisquits for them as treats for their walks.Chuck and I enjoyed taking one out for a short walk over into the campground before our trailride this morning.

After our trailride we stood their watching as a three day old was enjoying her mama's milk.Such a beautiful mama and foul.
The horses come out into the yard every morning for sunshine and romping before they get saddled up.They choose so many to put saddles on, send them out with people on them and then saddle up another group and place them into the barn stalls in preparation for the next group of riders. There is always a group saddled up and standing in their stalls waiting people like us to stroll up and wait for a ride. This was the first time we were asked if we had any particular horse we wanted to ride.

Chuck very proudly holds the reins of Darla and Blaze.

When going out from The Ranch Barn this is the spot in the trail that the two different rides split away from each other. The trot and canter go this direction while the walkers keep going straight. Here is the split up is beginning to happen.
One of my two favorite wranglers,Lloyd from Chicago. He went with our walk.

I always enjoy taking a few pictures of mother nature along the trail.Such a relaxing trail ride we enjoyed with Darla and Blaze.

Stay tuned for just a couple of more posts of pictures that lead up to the end of our stay.
