Fireflies

Fireflies are quite the unique little light up bugs God created.I wonder why their butts light up instead of their head.Interesting little story about fireflies in our kids past.We had gone down to St.Louis,Missouri to visit Chuck's brother and his family for a small getaway from the humdrum of life. You need them every once in awhile to stay sane. One evening as the sky began to darken,Chuck's brother Jim decided to give each of the kids a mason jar with a lid on it. He smiled and told them to have some fun catching the fireflies that every evening would filterate his whole yard. The kids loved running around in circles holding their mason jars in the air as far as their arms would reach. As the night got late and bedtime would soon arrive, they put their lids snug on their jars and brought each of their treasured captives into the house. Dan and Annette took their jars over to Jim to show him how many they had caught and tried to count them.Of course how do you count fireflies? You wait for their butts to light up.Their little butts we're flourescent with light which made our kids faces light up also with smiles. The last one to come into the house was Bryan. He came running in and proceeded to proudly lift his jar for Jim to see by taking the lid off. All the little captives we're free inside the house to enjoy flittering around whereever they felt like. It sent us into hysterics afterward. Poor Bryan his proud smile went into an immediate sad face. We all quickly tried to catch the little creatures but gave up soon afterward. You suppose two fireflies went into Noah's ark? It says two of every creature.Wouldn't it be funny if the Lord had it so that our butts lit up at night? They could be natural nightlights.Unfortunately you could never turn the light out at night. Annette and Earl's house they built had property where it would fill up with fireflies at night. They looked like twinkling stars filling the air all around you.
By the way, pictures that come into my blog are a result of Colleen's help.I still can't get in to send pictures.Just wanted to let everyone know that I am still having problems with pictures.Colleen I have a couple more in your mail for the blog. Thanks

Fireflies and Saers

In thought I remembered. So much sweeter the taste
lingered and drove wild.
Truth be told in literacy and shown. A million
fireflies swarm.
Their music shows strong.
A shore the seashells stood close to the ocean.
Had they lost anything?
You probably could've asked them.
Seen the saers knew more. Declared a layer of
emotion that struck solid. The redwood rose it' sword.
Running, screaming it was the nature. Carving a path.
Luminescent the flame burned. It was beautiful.
As the cape flickered, it stole in essence a whisp of the wind.
Gathering a light to the illusion. Reflecting in your eyes
I've seen the same.

Great Grandpa's Granddaughters

Fun! Posted by Hello
The four granddaughters just loved their great grandpa up to pieces. One evening as they came over for the evening we roasted marshmellows around the firepit. Greatgrandpa noticed they weren't quite sure how or where to put their marshmellow sticks so he took them one at a time showing them the art of roasting marshmellows at our firepit. Soon after they we're off doing their own thing playing in the field. Two or three marshmellows and they we're full of the sweet and sticky substances. Little RuthAnn,the newest of the clan, although not so new now was alittle timid of Great Grandpa at first but soon began loosening up,enjoying his lap.By the way she is ten months old and walking now. Such a petite little peanut for walking. RuthAnn was also walking at ten months so I guess they followed suit with each other. The Sunday before GreatGrandpa took off , GreatGrandpa took Hannah and Sarah to McDonands for something to eat for alittle closeness with the three of them. The girls came back very happy from their ride in his truck and some special time with him.

The Strube Campfire

Fire Pit Posted by Hello
What else can you do when you have a fire ordinance . For the six weeks that Dad was here we enjoyed lots of time around our own style campfire, roasting hotdogs and marshmellows. We also enjoyed lots of grilling on our outdoor grill . Many times Dad and Bryan would be outdoors manning the grill while I would be inside getting the rest of the dinner ready. Bryan was always ready to get our firepit ready with a roaring fire which we would keep going well after dark. I had just bought the grill and firepit for our August anniversary but we had not even used it yet. It was wonderful having Dad here to enjoy it with us for his stay. Those coals got pretty hot by the end of our visiting time around it. As he would go to bed for the night,I would go out to check on it and find the coals would still be red hot. Alittle stirring of the coals brought back to life the fire that had simmered into coals for alittle while, allowing me to sit next to it listening to the next door neighbors enjoying their pool and firepit with family and friends. A fire is wonderful to sit around with friends and family to chew the fat. We went through lots of wood including wood we brought back in Dad's truck from Ron and Pat's in the UP. We went to Pat's mother's funeral and spent the night at their place out in the camper parked in their driveway. The next morning Ron,his son in law and Dad went out and reved up the ole chainsaw. Dad's truck came back brimming with pine from the back of Ron's yard. That wood is waiting for this summer and fall to come around.

My Special Father

Dianne and Dad Posted by Hello
The six weeks Dad was here are best described as wonderfully special to my heart. It gave me a chance to be close to Dad and enjoy just plain disappearing with him for what ever we felt like doing. We popped in and out on a whim, either taking RuthAnn with us or letting her father take charge of her for alittle while. If Chuck was home, it made it easier for us to go. One morning early after returning Dad's car dolley we decided to stop into McDonnalds for breakfast instead of getting it when we got back home. One quick call to the house was all it took. It felt wonderful to get reconnected to my father . I do believe Dad took my heart all over again. I love you Dad.

1972 Pontiac Catalina Convertable

Dad's Baby Posted by Hello
This car has put a huge smile on Dad's face ever since he took ownership of her. It has sat in our back yard for Dad's squirrel friend to watch since last fall. It probably has put a few tears in the squirrel's eyes seeing it gone and he probably believes the walnuts are a thing in the past to only remember what once was. Doesn't Dad look good sitting in her?

A Time For Leaving The Nest

Coming Out Of Field Posted by Hello
Thank goodness the squirrel friend didn't leave his nest in the front seat. What fun Chuck had snowblowing one huge path from the end of our driveway through the field to the back of the garage. As Chuck was doing that, Nancy was in the back yard shoveling a large path of snow from in front of the car up to the house. Bryan's car needed a battery put in it so that we could move his car if needed. It turned out his car stayed put and the pop up camper moved into the garage instead so that the car could drive through that spot down into the field. The only problem was it conked out and slid down the hill without Dad being able to turn the wheel into the snowblown path. Next step, start the car up and try to back up the hill a short ways so that he could turn the car into the right path. To get traction for the rear wheels, Nancy and Chuck each took a back corner and tried to be heavy weights for the process. Success. Out of the field came the car with Dad sitting proudly behind the wheel toward the trailer on the street.

Now The Long Road Trip

Towing Posted by Hello
Nancy decided she wanted to be a car director and direct. She did a good job in helping Dad keep the car on the right tracks. The funny thing was they got the car up on the trailer and realized the two front windows we're open. Nancy got up and into the front seat of the car, shut the door to close the windows and found she couldn't open the door back up. There she sat wondering what to do next. She figured what she could only do was climb out the small back window. At this moment I don't remember how she got out but she did. I was in the house at the time. It turned out I missed out on a few real good picture taking moments. Car secure for her trip to Kentucky where she is now in Tom's garage getting worked on.

Evening Relaxation With Family

Everyone On The Mattress Posted by Hello
We had family time for dinner Saturday evening. It was nice to relax and enjoy family time with Nancy and Dad. They we're to take off at 7:30 am the next morning, bright and early. Tom ended up staying home because he wasn't sure if they would have trouble getting Dad's car out and up on the trailer. Thank goodness they didn't but it was sad for Tom since he could have came. It was a nice time.

Pictures

Recorded memorex. They leave us with such precious memories to have and to hold in our lives. Its amazing how technology has progressed into the computerized digital era. With familys being so wide spread out from each other, we miss out on each other growing up and having our own experiences. I am so enjoying seeing pictures from each of you, keep them coming. I love hearing the stories we can bring up from memory. Each of our minds remember certain experiences that maybe the other one can't. There are those very definate memorys that end up burned into our brains that we will never forget. Hysterical laughing memories I love. The tender moments are wonderful, the crying times are not so good. Each of our lives produce different situations, both wonderful and not so wonderful. I thank the Lord for each of you and love you all mega much. Lets all stay loving each other in good and bad times. Valentine's Day just hit yesterday, the day to say I Love You. This comes to each of you also. Now that Valentine's day is gone to join the yesteryear our love still remains alive and well. The Lord loved us before time began. Isn't it wonderful to feel loved?

All In Bed

As I looked at the clock. I realized it was 3:00am in the morning.OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoopppppppppppppppp where did the time go? I need to go to bed.Anyone else in this situation? Love ya,Ya know.I have the dvd in Because He Lives by Gaither videos.

Memories

Their a God given memory of days gone by to remember and relish past times with each other. It is wonderful to laugh and cry at memories of past times with our loved ones and remember as we once we're.We sometimes feel it would be wonderful to return to past situations to correct the things we did wrong and never asked forgiveness for but as death comes in its an ending.Lord forgive us for our wrong feelings and doings. We are each different and alone in our doing. As we are younger its hard to say I'm sorry but as we grow older and more mature it should come easier to say I'm sorry. To say to someone why are you having a problem with them ,should become more mature and forgiving. As a loved one passes many emotions happen in each of us.We all have the times of growing up and having our parent handle our each situation differently. We all growing up each have our own situation and hope it will be handled in our way. Was it?Lord we are all so different.Forgive us for our shortcomings and please be paient with each of us.This goes for everyone of us who are the Lord's children.Personalities, what about them? Each of us are different. Each of us handle things differently. Can I be silly? Can I be serious? Can I be a combination of each? Lord help us to accept each other for who they need to be .Please don't stiffly their giving in spirit and personality.Thank-you for loving me Lord in my short coming. I will share in the form I need to share and please accept it for me. I have a long ways to go believe me.
