Birthday Girls

RuthAnn and Hannah I have four very special granddaughters in all by the names of Hannah,Sarah,RuthAnn and Emma. They are each unique in their own way in which their different personalities shine forth. You would believe they are sisters if you were to look at them as they stand stair stepping down from each other in height and looks. In this picture you might guess where these two girls were celebrating their birthdays with us all.Right now its RuthAnn's favorite place,Chuckie Cheese.Hannah as she is getting much older is taking on a different liking.Right now she is into Libby Lou's in Younker'Mall ,an overnighter at a hotel with a pool and her best friend and family or where they have just come back from celebrating her birthday,The Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City. It's alot of fun,I know cause RuthAnn and I joined them for a night getaway last winter.Boy where does time go while our kids and grandkids are growing up?Our kids have made us already feel older, now our grandkids are jumping on the band wagon.Stop it kids and grandkids take it easy on us older folk, its stressful in our graying age.Hannah has now become 10 years old on Feb.1st and RuthAnn is now 4 as of January 27 or is it January 25 ?My memory tends to fade like my eye sight.Anyway enough of the aging talk for now. Happy Birthday to Hannah and RuthAnn and Happy Valentine's Day to all four of them.Emma will be 2 in April and Sarah, August 2nd. Happy Valentine's Day to one and all of you out there reading my post or not reading my post which ever it may be. Lots of Love to all.

So this is what them there humans watch in this box!

TV Kitty

A couple of days ago Linus was laying next to me as I was watching tv.He was laying there looking cold so I decided to help him feel snug and warm.So I snugged the blanket up around him and went back to watching the program that was on.In the next moment I heard his teeth take hold of the blanket to uncover himself and he got up to walk down to the end of the bed only to perch there to watch tv also.I had apparently placed the blanket around him wrong and he no longer could see the tv.We do alot of cuddling in blankets this winter because of keeping the heat down.I go between 64 and 66 depending on the hour of the day. Some days we almost need to walk out doors and come back in to be thankful of how warm we have it.
Linus has begun a three week medication program as of last Thursday. He has three different eye drops and I have doubled up his LLysin dosage. Two of the eye drop medicines he takes four times daily and the other eye drop which is his antibiotic twice a day.Vickie's Pet Connection is covering the medical cost to all of it.I talked to Linus's vet after she had talked to the optomoligist and he confirmed Linus has a cronid herpies condition.I was told the one eye drop alone was over a hundred dollars ,so I told the vet,he was a closed book.I proceeded to call Vickie's Pet Connection and left a message on her phone as to what we have dealt with since getting him.I asked if we could bring Linus in and choose another kitty. When she called me back I told her we couldn't afford the high cost the medications would bring.I told her I had been praying for a miracle for the last couple of days because I love him already and didn't want to lose him.She told me they might be able to cover the cost of the medication if I was willing to go through the treatment time with him.I told her yes I would and gave her the vets name and phone number.Within a short while she called me back and said they we're willing to pay for the first treatment program and would hope that it would be enough to kick what is happening out of his system. She assured me they wouldn't be able to keep helping for the rest of his cat life if more flare ups came.I got off the phone and starting thinking alittle more about more possible flare ups coming and that it would be just as expensive.I decided to call her back but her phone line kept being busy. Finally I connected with her and told her I had got to thinking that I should have told her I needed to talk to my husband first and realized it wasn't neccessarily fare to Vickie's Pet Connection to put all that money into medication when we might need to put him down if it didn't work. She assured me she wouldn't feel good about it unless they tried. She said she realized we might need to talk again in six weeks and that to be brutly honest yes they would need to put him down then. She said lets wait and see what the medication does for him and take it from there.Needless to say, when I talked to Chuck later that evening he wasn't happy that I didn't have her put down because of the emotional haul I am in for.Continue to pray for Linus as he goes through the medication program.

Is God Dancing On Your Potato Chips?

IS GOD DANCING ON YOUR POTATO CHIPS?

Not too long ago I had one of those days. I was feeling pressure from a writing deadline. I had company arriving in a couple days and the toilet was clogged. I went to the bank, and the trainee teller processing my deposit had to start over three times. I swung by the supermarket to pick up a few things and the lines were serpentine. By the time I got home,I was frazzled and sweaty and in a hurry to get something on the table for dinner. Deciding on Campbell's Cream Of Mushroom Soup, I grabbed a can opener, cranked open the can, then remembered I had forgotten to buy milk at the store. Nix the soup idea. Setting the can aside, I went to plan B,which was leftover baked beans. I grabbed the Tupperware container from the fridge, popped the seal, took a look and groaned. My husband isn't a picky eater, but even He won't eat baked beans that look like caterpillars. Really frustrated now, I decided on a menu that promised to be as foolproof as it is nutrition-free: hot dogs and potato chips.Retrieving a brand new bag of chips from the cupboard, I grabbed the cellophane and gave a hearty pull. The bag didn't open. I tried again. Nothing happened. I took a breath, doubled my muscle, and gave the bag a hearty wrestle. With a loud pop, the cellophane suddenly gave way, ripping wide from top to bottom. Chips flew sky high. I was left holding the bag, and it was empty. It was the final straw. I let out a blood curdling scream. I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! My husband heard my unorthodox cry for help. Within minutes he was standing at the doorway to the kitchen, where he surbeyed the damage: an opened can of soup, melting groceries, moldy baked beans, and one quivering wife standing ankle deep in potato chips. My husband did the most helpful thing he could think of at the moment. He took a flying leap, landing flat-footed in the pile of chips. And then he began to stomp and dance and twirl, grinding those chips into my linoleum in the process! I stared. I fumed. Pretty soon I was working to stifle a smile. Eventually I had to laugh. And finally I decided to join him. I,too, took a leap onto the chips. And then I danced. Now I'll be the first to admit that my husband's response wasn't the one I was looking for. But the truth is, it was exactly what I needed. I didn't need a cleanup crew as much as I needed an attitude adjustment, and the laughter from that rather funky moment provided just that. So now I have a question for you, and it's simply this: Has God ever stomped on your chips? I know that, in my life, there have been plenty of times when I've gotten myself into frustrating situations and I've cried out for help, all the while hoping God would show up with a celestial broom and clean up the mess. What often happens instead is that God dances on my chips, answering my prayer in a completely different manner than I had expected, but in the manner that is best for me after all. Sometimes I can see right away that God's response was the best one after all. Sometimes I have to wait weeks or months before I begin to understand how and why God answered a particular prayer the way he did. There are even some situations that, years later, I'm still trying to understand. I figure God will fill me in sooner or later, either this side of Heaven or beyond. Do I Trust Him? Even when he's answering my prayers in a way that is completely different from my expectations? Even when he's dancing and stomping instead of sweeping and mopping? Can I embrace what He's offering? Can I let His joy adjust my attitude? Am I going to stand on the sidelines and sulk, or am I willing to learn the steps of the dance he's dancin' with my needs in mind? I'll be honest with you: Sometimes I sulk. Sometimes I dance. I'm working on doing more of the latter than the former. I guess the older I get the more I realize that He really does know what He's doing. He loves me and I can trust Him. Even when the chips are down.

The other day I clicked into my email to find several forwards from our son Dan in my inbox.Needless to say even though I used to enjoy reading these and sometimes passing them along to others of you,I have stopped doing as I used to.Now,more then not,I get in and begin deleteing them instead.I got in and deleted at least 20 of these different ones from my friend Sandy and began looking at several Dan had left in my inbox. As my finger began to come down on the second one my eyes took a second look deciding this one looked interesting. As I read it I laughed and with the laughter I felt better.I needed it at that moment.I do hope the others of you who read have enjoyed it also.More information on Linus to be coming shortly.

Linus My New Years Baby

When we brought our New Years Babies home we expected all to be well with them and to live happily everafter. That is until they or we died of old age far far from this time.Buffy has recently moved away with her master back into Sam's house leaving Linus to fill up my days with precious Linus. As of last friday I have asked for a miracle from the Lord that Linus's eyes will become healed and all will be well.Shall I back up alittle?I need to add in here the sadness I felt for Nathanal and Ellie with the passing on of their new little playmate, puppy. His question of why would God let us bring home a puppy, fall in love with him and then have it end up with us needing to say goodby to him.My heart grieved for all of you.Now I ache in my heart for the kitty I have ended up falling in love with and know unless I get my miracle from God in healing this little kitty I will be also saying goodby. The two kitties came home we thought well.Linus on the other hand had developed a kitty cold which we began treating with the vet's help.I took him in for his last shot and found he had a fever and all the signs of an upper respiratory infection.I took him in after he had the eye drops and mouth medication to be told he was well enough for his last shot and was sent back home with more medication to give him by mouth. The last appointment he received a shot and his revolution medication to prevent fleas and set up the appointment for his quote LAST SHOT.Last friday he was set up to get his feline luekemia shot and rabbies shot that was highly recommended and I sat there stupified.Linus's eyes have continued to run and not look good. She said it looks like it has become cronic and is like a herpies condition that he will continue to problems with and could only be handled with medication. The two shots we're put off for another week and the vet will contact a kitty eye specialist to see what the options are.In the mean time I was sent home knowing I would be calling Vickie's Pet Connection this week to see what they could do for us and the vet will call me to let me know what she comes up with.Friday evening was a very sad day for me.You know its silly what animals do to you as you fall in love with them so quickly.Bryan says, shake it off mom, kitties are a dime a dozen get another one.I want Linus not another kitty.I have asked the Lord for a miracle in healing Linus's eyes. This morning and most of the day I thought I had gotten the miracle because his eyes looked as if nothing had ever been wrong with them.Just a short time ago Linus came walking out of the bedroom to get some love and his right eye was squinting and runny.I have faith the Lord can heal his eyes and let me have a happy tale to tell others but it is looking bleak. The bummers of life are hard and even though I know Bryan is right in what he has told me,my heart wants the kitty I have fallen in love with.As I close this post please help me pray for my miracle and I will keep you informed. This week a decision will be made,Lord willing I won't have to make the decision of taking him back to Vickie's Pet Connection and leaving with a different kitty.Animals take your heart and fill it with lots of love just as if they we're your child. He has just walked up and nudged me with his chin to get and give a few minutes of love.Although on second thought it was only a minute and he jumped down to go and see if I have given him some moist food.Go figure.
