Out of Nuts

Funny thing about that squirrel in the tree, he was waiting for another handout. This past summer Dad and Dan Revoir went out for the day enjoying their time and came back with a large bag of walnuts they had picked up under trees. Dad placed that bag on the ground beside the house figuring it was safe. Unbenounced to him this squirrel found the bag and left a trail of walnut shells everywhere. He then put the bag in the garage where it should have been safe but no such luck. The squirrel had found his way into the garage through a small hole in the front of the garage and once again left an array of walnut shells. I found a brick to place on the other side of the hole so he could no longer enter and the squirrel became very unhappy. Soon he started coming and sitting on top of the pop of camper parked in front of the garage and the small wood pile sitting on the ground in front of the garage watching for Dad to come out to him. Dad with his big heart, put a smile on his face and slowly walked out, opened up the garage door, walked in and took a walnut out for him. The squirrel walked right into the garage after Dad, sat right there and let Dad hand him a walnut. From there Dad had a friend for the duration of his stay. He comes around now and then looking for Dad and a possible handout but to no avail. I saw him sitting on the tree limb right outside my bathroom window munching on a nut and couldn't resist taking a picture. We don't have a window peeper on our hands now do we?Ooops

A Star In The Rain

How do you catch a star in the falling rain? In the wee early morning hours, mid December the rain was pouring down outside. The crazy idea of making a special memory spurring me onward.Tom and I bundled ourselves up in our coats and stepped out into the chilly, wet night for our walk down Cayce Street. As we we're getting drenched to the bone I looked upward into the black sky, searching for that lone star, foolish enough to shine from the heavens for these two people. Of coarse there wasn't one to be in these atmospheric conditions . Houses along the street sat dark and silent as people slept in there cozy, warm beds except for possibly a couple gazing out at the two foolish people walking in the chilly, pouring down rain. At one point I looked up to Tom and laughed at the sight we made. Then came the thought, How do you catch a star in the falling down rain? Easy, just have him walking right beside you and hold on tight to him. Thanks Tom for giving me a memory.Did we get back cold and wet? Yep we sure did, but it was a good cold and wet.

Got Snow? Posted by Hello

Got Snow?

Anyone for snow angels?Hot cocoa with marshmellows and chit chat following. This weekend saw alittle bit of snow, over a foot worth. It sure is beautiful to look at but a pain to drive in. Our Michigan winter is a refreshing break from 80 to 90 degree weather but only we wish a small break.Lots of cancellations and pleas to stay off the roads as much as possible. Bryan and I still ventured out to the mall, that sweet and sour chicken was calling us. I just wish my hands could take the cold. If anyone would like to request some of our snow just let me know.
