Celebrating Christmas and Ringing In 2007

Two days after celebrating Christmas in Howard City with Chuck's family we loaded up my caddy with luggage and the remaining Christmas presents. In we climbed, buckled up and backed out of the driveway to begin our journey to Kentucky. Ten hours later we pulled up in front of Tom and Nancy's.We were all rather weary from the road trip as we climbed out of the caddy to greet Dad,Nancy,Tom and dogs.It felt wonderful to know we would be enjoying family for yet one more Christmas celebrating and the ringing of the New Year. Tom's big smile says it all.Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!Nancy had cooked a big meal and they had waited diligently for our arrival to dig in.Under their Christmas tree were many presents yet to be given out so we added ours to theirs.Mr.Moose was fully decorated with tinsel, huge Christmas balls and party hat in preparation to ring in the New Year. The weather while we were there was like our warm spring time so my coat was seldom needed. The firepit was blazing with fire a couple of evenings and all the dogs had free rein of their big yard.RuthAnn was just loving being surrounded by all of their dogs. Her throwing Ashley's ball was nonstop and once in awhile the ball would get grabbed by one of the other dogs. What proceeded next as this happened would be one big hunt to try to locate the missing ball.Tom gave me a fantastic ride on his new Christmas gift along the expressway. As far as I was concerned he could have gone as far as he wanted because I wasn't ready to get off of it any time soon.New years Eve came, dad went on to bed,and RuthAnn fell asleep on her cozy floor mattress as the rest of us sat and watched as the Waterford Ball fell in Time Square.Lots of hugs and kisses commenced even though there was no mistletoe afoot. The only thing missing was my eggnog. We had gone to the store and I had totally forgot to pick some up.That is the one time I love to have some eggnog. Dad left in the morning on New Years Day and we stayed until the following morning to travel back to Grand Rapids. The time with Tom,Nancy and Dad was thoughly enjoyed by all of us.The drive back was clear sailing with dry roads,no snow anywhere. We pulled into our driveway about 10:30pm our time.It took my system a good week before I felt like doing much of anything. My heart was still in Kentucky with family and I felt worn out but happy. The day we got back President Ford was brought back to Grand Rapids to be buried at his Museum downtown.

One big hangover from all the noise and activity while we were all there. He probably appreciated the quiet after we left or on the other end, shed a few tears seeing everyone leave. He sure was quite the decked out moose.I'm sure Dad got one big laugh when he arrived and saw him.Tom had the dear antlers in the spare bedroom decorated up also.At first with tinsel but eventually a pair of undies were found to share an antler.Tom got quite a kick with the new decoration.I have a picture to prove it but didn't get it on here.

Wow! Uncle Tom looks different with his hair and beard trimmed up like that. I've always thought he was handsome either way, but that sure is a different look! Nice looking bike. Glad you had a good visit.
